Please report all broken tools and equipment to the Scene Shop Supervisor.
The tools in the scene shop receive a lot of use. Sometimes you will notice one doesn’t seem to be working correctly, or it breaks while you are using it. Broken or poorly operating tools and machinery can be dangerous to use. If you see a tool that is not working correctly, please remove it from use and report it immediately. It is important that the tool be repaired or replaced, before it becomes a hazard to workers in the shop.
Things you may notice that could indicate that a tool is not working correctly are:
- Smoke or strange smells
- Large amounts of heat being created
- Strange noises
- It becomes hard to operate.
The problem could be just a dull blade or worn piece of tooling. However, if you have to force the tool to do the work you want, it is not a safe condition. Do not return dull or broken tools to the tool room. Instead, please place them on the scene shop supervisor’s chair in their office, with a note that is describing what is wrong.
If the machine is to large to carry, please unplug it and place a “Red Tag” through the “eyes
of the plug. Write what is wrong on the tag.

You can email, call, or text the Shop Supervisor, to let them know what the problem is.
