Sometimes you will notice one doesn&#8217;t seem to be working correctly, or it breaks while you are using it.  Broken or poorly operating tools and machinery can be dangerous to use.  If you see a tool that is not working correctly, please remove it from use and report it immediately.  It is important that the tool be repaired or replaced, before it becomes a hazard to workers in the shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Things you may notice that could indicate that a tool is not working correctly are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Smoke or strange smells<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Large amounts of heat being created<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strange noises<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It becomes hard to operate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The problem could be just a dull blade or worn piece of tooling.  However, if you have to force the tool to do the work you want, it is not a safe condition.  Do not return dull or broken tools to the tool room.  Instead, please place them on the scene shop supervisor&#8217;s chair in their office, with a note that is describing what is wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the machine is to large to carry, please unplug it and place a &#8220;Red Tag&#8221; through the &#8220;eyes<br> of the plug.
